Hello! I've just recently starting using Pardus, and I like the livecd, so I've been using it for about a week now. I like pisi more than apt-get or yum (also, it's package manager is nicer than packagekit). So I'd consider that to be a benefit of pardus. However, I still can't figure some things out about pardus. I cannot figure out it's package update policy. The whole repo thing confuses me (even more after viewing the repository section of this forum

). Also, I've heard that I can use pisi to compile a program if it's not in the repo. I can't find any info on how to do that. I'm hoping I can just type 'pisi compile package.tar' because the normal way to compile something is complicated for me (I'm somewhere between linux beginner and 'can use command line to install a package'). Since Pardus doesn't have a large repository, I'll probably have to compile something down the road.
