Material on the internet has a limited lifespan, or may be tied to the fate of a company ( like if it continues to exist ), or if it stops being popular (if it ever were ).
A place to checkout for that old software ( e.g. old mac , amiga , windows 95 ), or music ( I got some great Greatful Dead music ) , maybe open source video ( Sita sings the Blues is one ), then they have LOTS of old manuscripts , books , old film clips converted to video ( I watched the video of the first computer mouse demonstration ).
This place should be part of your searchs.
