Pardus suppose to have a package for Firefox 8.0.1 for some day now (my request for it in bugzilla are resolved/fixed):
http://bugs.pardus.org.tr/show_bug.cgi?id=19505

But if I update in Pisi (friday 9 december) it are no avaible updates?
Still the 6.0.2 version of Firefox.

Why are they delaying with it?

For me a request is resolved when I see the program in the stabile repositories.

Will check out again on saturday or sunday if I got it.
But a total re-installation of the Pardus 2011.2 should not be necessary I think?

Your probably correct, just pointing out that it shows up on a obscure setup , so it's there somewhere..

I'd check again next week.  They added version 8 to devel repo yesterday and from the bug report, they were working on Turkish locales for it.  So, I wouldn't do a reinstall.

The nice thing on ff8 is on startup it allows you to tailor the locales by removing the unwanted ones.
And no wasn't recommending a re-install

I'd check again next week.
And if you can not wait.
For i686:
Code:
sudo pisi  it http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2011/devel/i686/firefox-8.0.1-163-p11-i686.pisi -y
For x86_64:
Code:
sudo pisi it http://packages.pardus.org.tr/pardus/2011/devel/x86_64/ firefox-8.0.1-163-p11-x86_64.pisi -y

And to return to the original FF:
Code:
sudo pisi it firefox --reinstall -y

I just tested FF8.0.1 myself and it's

I have modified my previous post and now have FF-8.0.1 in the NL-language
FF8 is noticeably quicker (also rendering of site's) than FF6 and thus a for the Mozilla guys.

Boy, that is a fast change over rate.  Maybe that is why no. 8 hasn't shown up in regular or testing repos yet.  Just trying to pick a version is like catching a fly.  Cheesy

As far I can see the Firefox 9 is still a beta version:

I am not sure that the rapid releases are so good:
