Waiting until the end of March is fine with me, as it is initially their creation and knowing how governments work, they can be slow due to all of the channels they must go through. 
That is why my time line guess was 4 months for transition.  March/April  will be here before you know it.   

When I first started using Linux, it was Simply Mepis, and at that time there was a big fall out when they decided to use ubuntu-Debian based packages.  I guess when I came aboard they were creating their own.  That was about 7 years ago.
