What is FreePardus aka Anka

As you might know, Pardus Linux is a national Turkish Linux distro, which is built from stratch. It started being developed by Tubitak (National Science and Technology Academy of Turkey), a government branch responsible for developing technologies for the country. Tubitak started developing Pardus with a codename Uludağ (short for Ulusal Dağıtım - National Distribution) primarily for governmental, military and educational usage.

Starting from last year, with some organizational changes in Tubitak, Pardus Project's development and management changed big time. Many developers of the distro left the project for various reasons. Then suddenly, Pardus announced end-of-line for the current release, 2011, without even starting developing or announcing the next release. These and more caused unstability and untrust in Pardus Project as well as Tubitak.

We, the people who love Pardus, who contributed Pardus somehow and want Pardus to continue "freer", are establishing this group to start a new Pardus, called FreePardus for now. Our goal is to have a distro based on Pardus, but making it free of any bureaucracy and completely make the community as the base, instead of governments and individuals.

Dirse, I have nothing more to say, and you have quite understood what we as a community should do. And at the worldforum are allready a number of proposals how we can start.
