hey guys,im from bulgaria, which is pretty close to turkey. In my town there are alot of turkish people and culture from turkey (like turkish food,etc)..
I am a vector linux user, but decided to give pardus a try, since i was pretty curious about its features, the things that made it different from the others.Untill now i dont have complains, still trying to get everything i need running.

I have a bunch of questions:

How do I instal xfce4 and thunar with all the packages it has.Is there a pisi repo somewhere?

How do I install opera 9?

And a request for a package, which i know someone already started to work on ( tapioca)

Many thanks for this great great distro.I have found things that i love working without a problem- (like beagle and kerry) , I also love the new start menu you took from opensuse. Smiley

Opera is in contribution (contrib) repository. You can install it with the following command:

Code:

sudo pisi bi http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/applications/network/opera/

And then install it usual way:

Code:

sudo pisi install opera*pisi

Yes, you can install xfce from contrib repository by building the packages. Please add the contrib repository;
Code:
sudo pisi ar contrib http://svn.pardus.org.tr/contrib/pisi-index.xml.bz2

Build base stuff
Code:
sudo pisi em desktop.xfce4.base -d

Build some goodies (thunar media plugin, date/time for panel, etc.)
Code:
sudo pisi em desktop.xfce4.goodies -d

Yeah, xfce is installed but we should do some configuration changes.

Build the kdmtheme application to change a login theme to see the Xfce4 option and login
Code:
sudo pisi em kdmtheme -d

Configure it by writing,
Code:
kcmshell kdmtheme

And give root privileges in the application, Please select another login theme and press OK

After it, we should move ".gtkrc-2.0" file in the home directory
Code:
mv ~/.gtkrc-2.0 ~/.gtkrc-2.0.backup

Xfce is ready! Please shutdown the session and select the Xfce from menu than login Wink

Also you may want that;

= Abiword =
Note: Now we should build the latest version of XML-SAX from my playground, it has no problems. When it has been added the 2007 repo, you will able to install it as pisi.
Code:
sudo pisi bi http://svn.pardus.org.tr/pardus/playground/eren/programming/languages/perl/XML-SAX/pspec.xml
sudo pisi it XML-SAX*.pisi

Code:
sudo pisi em abiword -d

= Gedit =
Code:
sudo pisi em gedit -d

= Xchat =
Code:
sudo pisi em xchat -d

= Gaim =
Code:
sudo pisi it gaim

= Sylpheed =
Code:
sudo pisi it sylpheed

= Geany =
Code:
sudo pisi em geany -d
