My wireless LAN is working perfectly after I type
iwconfig eth0 key xxxxxxxxxx open
Is there a way to get this saved?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can try editing the file /etc/conf.d/local.start and add it at the end.
You got to have root-privileges to do so:
sudo kwrite /etc/conf.d/local.start
and give your user-password.
