Hi there,

I'm Robert, I live in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

I'm completely new to linux, at first I've tried a great lot of different and small live cd's on my vintage Compaq Presario 1260 laptop (and I liked Slax the most).

Have bought another second hand laptop last weekend, a IBM Thinkpad T30, and I'm now about to install Pardus on this 'new' machine.

I have seen the live cd from Pardus on the IBM and read the article in 'Linux Magazine' and I was really fascinated by this new distro.

I will install Pardus this next weekend I guess.

As a passionate Apple iMac G4 user I'm in general much impressed by the stability (like MAC OS X) and the flexible versatility of linux.

I'm a member of NLLGG as well.

Cheers!

Thanks for your words of welcome Willem!

I'll let you know as soon as I've finished the HD install. Cheesy

BTW the IBM Thinkpad T30 has Kubuntu installed which is an excellent distro as well - but I like Pardus more as Pardus is more complete and looks nicer.

Installed Pardus this evening, took one hour for the IBM Thinkpad T30, most-most-most impressive! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Installing was a breeze and everything seems to work so far - no problems!

Nice to hear, was the same with my laptop. BTW for the package management you will have to go to Tasma > System
Or look at the tasktray...

Have to dive in some particular things still, like Tasma you say, my laptop has no internet connection (yet) so I have to figure out how to add certain packages (like 'Open Office' Dutch spell checker) with the aid of a humble USB stick...
