Hi zloby,

so it is. I use a normal develo ADSL-modem by Simens. A patient of mine uses a routing modem. With routing modem it is no problem to connect directly over Networkmanager.

The fact is in Suse for example it is possible to get connection withe Networkmanager over "normal" ADSL-modem without routing funktion.

Maybe once this will also possible in Pardus

greatings

SUSE has tool (I believe its called Kintrenet or something similar) which is almost the same as MS Windows tool for creating dial-up connection (same tool for ppp and pppoe dial-up).

Talisien, I agree with you that existence of similar tool in Pardus will be very nice, especially because many low-entry ADSL modems (and those modems ISP's  usually give when you sign a contract) don't work or have problems when running in routing mode.

@talisien
yes it is like you said. today it is not easy to find out for a beginner to start. in suse it is very easy. i know pppoe from knoppix where you are grafical guided to the rpppoe-setup. than rpppoe-setup is similar to pardus' rpppoe-setup.
i think it is neccessary to include grafical  hints. it is no problem to operate in command line but you dont know what to start and how to start. today the distros came from internet as ISO. 10 years ago you bought them in a bookshop with a little booklet which guids you to the minimal basics.

i found this:

http://worldforum.pardus-linux.nl/viewtopic.php?t=288&sid=8f1385a88a1d7c756c3062eacf80c8c8
with this tool you can operate without su passwort like in suse
if you are interrestet search for tk-rpppoe in internet.

@zloby - i understand nothing about this network things.
so i dont know what a routing mode is.
here in germany some provider give the costomer the routers and voip splitter - but they dont give you the ip number of the router!
so if i have to add anywhere the ip number of the router i am lost.
is it possible without to know this number?

Should you not see internal ip adress of your computer by writing with root privileges "ifconfig -a"?

As you seem interested again, is the IP adres of the router not the IP address listed in this article http://www.sg-neukoelln.de/router/howto_router.php?
Or otherwise could you not find it with a trace log from your computer to another server.
