Hi all,

I am very impressed with pardus. Just a quick question though:

How do I start a daemon, let's say ssh from the command line? I know you can use Tasma for this, but I'd really like to be able to do this in a console window as well.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Found the answer ;-)

This is handled by /sbin/start-stop-daemon:

pardus roverrat # start-stop-daemon -S -v --exec /usr/sbin/sshd
Starting /usr/sbin/sshd...

pardus roverrat # start-stop-daemon -v -K --exec /usr/sbin/sshd
Stopped /usr/sbin/sshd (pid 3611).

See: http://www.annodex.net/cgi-bin/man/man2html?start-stop-daemon+8

or, maybe more easier:

service [servicename] start

"service list" or just "service" will give you a list of services
